Covid Safety Measures

100% Optical – the UK's largest optical event – is one of numerous exhibitions and events ExCeL London is delighted to be hosting in 2022. Of course, the health and wellbeing of every single person who comes through our doors remains our number one priority, and our whole team has been working incredibly hard to ensure all our visitors feel reassured.

Throughout the health crisis, ExCeL London has been working in close collaboration with the event industry, following the latest government guidance, to develop the necessary safety measures. We all have a role to play in keeping events safe. That’s why everyone who comes into ExCeL London will be asked to provide proof of a double vaccination (NHS COVID Pass), COVID-19 anti-bodies or a negative lateral flow test. We’re also recommending visitors continue to wear face coverings inside the venue.  Hand sanitiser stations are located throughout the venue. In addition, our in-house teams are conducting enhanced cleaning regimes, using chlorine-based fluids at all key touch points, whilst ventilation has also been increased in line with the latest CIBSE guidance. We’ve also installed new NEMS (Nimlok Entry Management System) digital signage at the entrances to all bathrooms to help with the people flow.

These measures are in addition to those undertaken by 100% Optical and its exhibitors to help ensure the focus of the event is on what matters the most; the optometrist community reconnecting, networking and learning about the latest health products and trends.

Due to the ever-changing regulations of the pandemic, the rules regarding social distancing in January 2022 are currently difficult to predict. We anticipate that some regulations will remain (such as the wearing of face masks), and we will naturally be constantly monitoring capacity figures to ensure that the venue has ample dwell space for it’s visitors and exhibitors to maintain some form of social distance. There are other restrictions which could affect the event; such as one-way systems and staggered entrance times but we will need to seek advice closer to the event in order to ensure we comply with these measures and ensure the safety of all attendees.

100% Optical will increase its ground level signage focused on any measures and restrictions applicable at the time. These could include social distancing restrictions and face covering requirements.

Registration for the event will be done online and only e-badges will be in use. We will set up contactless badge scanning points.

One way system will be used around the show and stagger arrival system will be in place.

Ventilation will be increased, improving fresh air circulation in line with latest CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) guidance and recommendations.

Sanitiser stations will be present across the event. Visitors and Exhibitors will be encouraged to sanitise on entry to the event; and at any major interchange within ExCeL London.

100% Optical already operates a robust cleaning regime for its event. We will ask our exhibitors and participants to have their own stand cleaning policies in place for their space and products, which will be reviewed and approved before the event.

Hand sanitisers will be provided across the public areas of the venue. There is an expectation that all organisers and exhibitors will provide their own sanitiser for their offices, in-hall aisles and stands.
