DESIGNER - Ona Utuama
The eyewear industry is age-old, The eyewear industry is age-old, two years ago Tribal ëyës was founded to fill a gap. Their goal was to produce eyewear focused firstly on wider nasal bridges and bigger alae nasi for a better fit among that population and secondly on eyewear designs with ethnic patterns. To this end the brand created 2 lines, a neutral and an ethnic line. The ethnic line includes designs created by infusing ethnic patterns into acetate or eyewear material, one of which was awarded design patent in September 2022. The brand is currently stocked at the Anthropologie store, Dubai Mall UAE, Wolf and Badger Los Angeles USA, Hudson Bay Canada, Verishop USA. Tribal ëyës donates eyewear to indigent school children in West Africa and eyewear PPE to a community eye clinic through partnership with a local eye foundation.
Ona Utuama is the founder and creative director, as a physician who loves form fitting eyewear, she applied her understanding of the nasal anatomy and her West African heritage to create form fitting eyewear for a tribe that wants the world to see their culture through their own eyes. I believe Tribal ëyës stands out as an industry newcomer and is making an impact with their eyewear products.
