Trade show season is upon us once more and Kirk & Kirk will be showing their latest additions to the Kaleidoscope and Vivarium Collections at Vision Expo West in Las Vegas and at Silmo, Paris in September.
It is sometimes hard to remember that this company is only two years old although Jason and Karen Kirk have been creating innovative eyewear since 1992. The collections are already sold in the best independent opticians around the globe and continue to stand out through their use of innovative materials and distinctive colour palette.
For Spring/Summer 2017, Kirk & Kirk will be releasing two new shapes in the Kaleidoscope Collection, Frank and Gene, in their signature bold styling. The appearance of weight is counter-balanced by the lightweight acrylic that is used to handmake the frames, ensuring that the glasses weigh next to nothing and are extremely comfortable to wear.
New colours include Midnight, a combination of charcoal grey and a flash of blue, Sunset, a warm brown with a vibrant orange accent, Emerald, a feisty combination of greens and Violet that marries purple and pink, in a confident statement that reminds us why we love eyewear.
Glimmering like precious jewels these colours are like nothing you’ve seen before - the exceptional qualities of acrylic are truly exploited in this collection.
In the Vivarium Collection, the metallic finish continues to please while the matt finish, which contrasts so beautifully with the sterling silver animal pins, is growing apace and two new colour ways will join the collection this fall, sage and plum, matt autumnal colours that complement the existing palette.
The precious metal pins, handmade in the jewellery district of Birmingham, England, are available in either silver or nine carat gold and their 3D aspect gives a subtle and unique identity to the Vivarium Collection. As well as the fly and the lion that have established themselves as firm favourites, the ram and the stallion were joined by a Springer Spaniel a couple of months ago and, not content with this growing menagerie, we are introducing two new creatures this autumn; the cobra and the alligator.
