OrCam Technologies, the developers of the world’s most advanced wearable assistive technology for blind and visually impaired people, will be launching its next generation artificial vision device, the OrCam MyEye 2, at the 100% Optical event, which is running from 27th to 29th January 2017. 100% Optical, organised in partnership with the Association of Optometrists (AOP), and is the largest optical event in the UK.

The OrCam MyEye 2 is now a totally wireless device, and despite not having base unit that was part of the OrCam MyEye device, it is small and lightweight enough to seamlessly attach to the side of a user’s glasses. The whole device is now roughly the size of a finger, and functions such as volume control are made using a touch strip on the side of the device. Another new feature is LED lighting which can illuminate text, faces, products, and currency notes in low light environments, making the OrCam MyEye 2’s text reading and facial/product recognition even more powerful. The OrCam MyEye 2 will also have wireless capabilities, so that although it will still function fully without the need for a wireless connection, new software versions will be updated over WiFi.

Leon Paull, International Director at OrCam, commented, “We are thrilled to be launching our next generation OrCam MyEye device at 100% Optical. This device is a huge step forward in artificial vision technology, and is more powerful, more discreet, and more intuitive than any of our previous devices. We are going to be demonstrating the OrCam MyEye 2 throughout 100% Optical, so we urge people to come and see this amazing device for themselves.
Like the previous generation OrCam MyEye device, the OrCam MyEye 2 harnesses the power of cutting-edge artificial vision technology to enable users to instantly and discreetly read text off of any surface and also to recognise faces, bank notes and products. The OrCam MyEye 2 has been meticulously designed to be intuitive, and easy to use for people with visual impairments.
