Paris (FRA), November 2018 – Ensuring the sharpest perception of the surroundings is more than a vision for Serengeti. Known for its high-end lenses that are considered to be the highest performing lenses in the world, the brand offers 8 mineral lens tints that are specifically engineered to reveal the best in specific environments. As a sunny winter is characterized by strong reflections on snow that can be very tiring and harmful for the eyes and therefore calls for dedicated protection, Serengeti has developed a unique lens tint, SEDONA. The combination of this winter-ideal rose-colored lens and LEANDRO’s modern Glacier design is the perfect mix between technology and style and a must have for mountain getaways.
WHY ARE SEDONA LENSES IDEAL FOR WINTER?
SEDONA’s rose-colored lenses block only the most distracting light waves (including blue light) that are responsible for distortion and for the sensation of visual noise, and thus provide a remarkable high-contrast view. In addition, this lens provides a category 3 protection, making it ideal for bright conditions - such as snowy surroundings. These characteristics combined with Serengeti’s unique mix of Photochromic, Spectral Control® and Polarizing technologies (detailed on the next page) explain why this lens is particularly good for winter use.
The version of LEANDRO GLACIER shown here is the Bi-Mirror version of Serengeti’s ultra-light SEDONA mineral lens: in addition to Sedona’s qualities, this lens version features a stylish silver-flash bi-mirror providing the eyes with high protection on the top and at the bottom of the lens with beautiful clarity in the middle.
With its frame made out of Nylon TR90 and sublimated by an elegant stainless-steel bridge, the model LEANDRO combines a sleek finish and an extra light weight for the ultimate in comfort. The key feature of this frame lies in its removable magnetic shields that allow them to be worn all year round. Made of genuine leather, they protect their wearer against any type of glare and light from entering the eyes from the sides and bring a touch of modernity and chic to this Glacier look. Ideal for mountain activities, Leandro is also a must-have around town with or without its shields.
Serengeti’s lenses feature the industry leading combination of technologies that has built Serengeti’s reputation: Photochromic, Spectral Control® and Polarizing technologies. Each of them brings its own benefits to eye comfort and visual acuity.
As the pioneer of Photochromic technology, Serengeti® leads the industry in creating lenses that adapt to any light condition in any setting. Molecularly infused into every lens, Serengeti photochromic technology is activated by the amount of UV in the atmosphere. The lens is engineered to transition from light to dark gradually depending on the light conditions, keeping the eyes relaxed and enabling them to discern shapes and colors more quickly while eliminating eye strain.
SPECTRAL CONTROL® TECHNOLOGY
Serengeti’s proprietary Spectral Control® technology has featured in every single lens since the brand’s day one. This technology manages light wavelengths to give better definition of what needs to be seen. Much like an audio equalizer filters sound frequency, the technology fine tunes and filters harmful shortwave blue light, allowing more red, green, and yellow to pass through. Landscapes that would seem washed out, dull or flat with other lenses become naturally defined, vibrant and vivid.
When glare reflects off the road, it results in less visibility and even dazzling light, that can be dangerous for the driver while also being very tiring on the eyes. Serengeti’s Polarizing technology suppresses glare and sets the eyes free: parallel light rays can pass through unhindered, while distracting perpendicular light is reflected. This allows drivers to gain more clarity, to reduce eye-fatigue and to focus only on the horizon.
One knows that the best visual acuity comes also from the material of the lens. Some materials create distortion, and you don’t want to inflict this on your eyes. Serengeti mineral lenses offer the very best visual acuity available. Every pair of Serengeti® mineral lenses is unique and comes to life through an intense hydrogen-firing process. The lenses are chemically tempered to ensure scratch and impact resistance, then ground to perfection. An anti-reflective coating is added to the backside of the lens, cancelling the scattering light that causes reflective glare.
