Jonathan Chew, Assistant Show Manager for 100% Optical ran his first Bupa 10k race on 25th May 2015. He joined thousands of people to support the UK's leading charity and our 2016 charity partner Fight for Sight, which funds pioneering eye research to prevent sight loss and treat eye disease.
Also competing in the race were 12k runners from elite Olympic athletes to fun runners which finished in front of Buckingham Palace. Runners included the European Championship Silver medallist from Zurich last summer in the 10000m, Andy Vernon who won the men's category for a second consecutive year in a time of 28:38. The European Championship Gold medallist from Zurich last summer in the 10000m, Jo Pavey, won the female category and completed the course in 32:56
A huge well done to Jonathan who completed the race in a very respectable 48:35 which was in the top 20% of all runners taking part in the race. Jonathan has raised over £500 so far for Fight for Sight and donations are still welcome at www.justgiving.com/JonathanChew or by texting 'CHEW85 £10' to 70070
Jonathan said: "I'm extremely pleased to have been able to raise funds and awareness for Fight for Sight and complete the race in a time of 48:35 having participated in very little pre-race training."
