The lecture will cover the dangers of blue light including short-term and long-term exposure to sunlight, the impact of free radicals and reactive oxygen species on the retina, the role of macular pigments helping to protect the eye from photochemical damage, and the techniques available to enable macular pigments to be measured in clinical practice to inform and empower patients to take prudent steps in the protection of the eyes.
