Shamir UK has exceeded their target and raised thousands of pounds for Breast Cancer Care.
Last October 2017, Shamir UK launched its pink campaign to raise money for the only UK wide charity providing care, support and information to people affected by breast cancer. Wanting to fundraise with a slight twist, there were four primary features with one great aim: to raise as much money as possible.
Phil Bareham, General Manager of Shamir UK, said: “We’re delighted to have raised £4,619.13 for such a great charity. We received immense support from the ophthalmology industry as well as the team here at Cambridge, holding our own sweepstake and bake sale”.
The four main events included a colour change from its iconic red on all digital platforms to pink, a digital sweepstake to win a TV via its JustGiving page, a donation with every branded progressive lens sold as well as supporting Independent Opticians with a Point of Sale pack.
Shamir UK thanks everyone who supported them with its fundraising, including customers who displayed posters and ribbons and their Area Lens Consultants who wore the pink ribbon as well as pink wigs and ties.
Phil added: “We are ecstatic at the amount we raised during the particularly special 25-year anniversary of Breast Cancer Care’s pink ribbon. We hope that our money allows the charity to continually provide care, support and information to the 62,000 people diagnosed with the most common cancer in the UK every year.
Alec Raven, Head of Community Fundraising at Breast Cancer Care, said: “We’re so grateful to Shamir UK for holding a community event in aid of Breast Cancer Care. The money raised will help Breast Cancer Care to continue to provide free services including; support over the phone with a nurse or someone who’s been there, welcoming online forums, reliable information and local group support”.
