Lisa Donaldson
Lisa Donaldson is an optometrist with a research interest in paediatric and learning disability eye care and is head of eye care at SeeAbility and an honorary senior lecturer at City, University of London. She has many years of experience in community and hospital optometric practice as well as teaching and as a local optical committee member. Lisa was awarded the Giles van Colle Memorial Foundation and College of Optometrists Research Excellence Award in 2019 for her research in paediatric eye care. SeeAbility’s eye care team works to reverse the inequalities in eye care experienced by people with learning disabilities. Their research in special schools evidenced this and was instrumental in influencing the June 2023 Department of Health commitment to provide a National Special Schools Eye Care Service. The Team also includes eye care champions with lived experience of learning disability employed to raise awareness and affect further system change.
