Discussion workshop: Spectacles or contact lenses - you decide
This discussion workshop will see the optical solutions of spectacles and contact lenses go head-to-head in a knockout round – it’s up to you to decide what they should wear. The session will be presented by Dr Alicia Thompson representing spectacle solutions and Max Halford representing contact lens possibilities, exploring vision correction opticians for children, presbyopes and working professionals.
Learning outcome(s):
Practitioners will support patients to take an active part in the decision-making process to determine which optical solutions will be most appropriate, considering their refractive status and lifestyle needs (s.1) while ensure valid and informed consent is obtained (s.3)
Practitioners will recognise how to conduct an adequate assessment and that any optical solutions are clinically justified, in the best interests of the patient (s.7), relative to their scope of practice.
