Discussion workshop: Walking the line
This discussion workshop will explore areas of optical practice where all registrants need to ensure they are making appropriate decisions and working collaboratively in a team. With your peers, you will be asked to consider the areas of the sale and supply and also delegated functions, to ensure everyone in practice able to stay the right side of the line.
Learning outcome(s):
Practitioners will recognise how to work collaboratively with colleagues within the optical professions and other healthcare practitioners in the best interests of their patients, ensuring that their communication is clear and effective (s.10)
Practitioners will recognise and ensure awareness of their obligations in relation to maintaining confidentiality when responsible for another member of staff, either through delegation, supervision management or employment (s.14)
Practitioners understand how to maintain clear patient records and ensure details of all those involved in all aspects of patient care, including areas under supervision or under delegation (s.8)
Practitioners are able to ensure patient safety and care is not compromised where supervising or delegating a task to another person, understanding how to comply with the law (s.9).
