Lecture: Embracing a new era in geographic atrophy

This session provides an overview of Geographic Atrophy (GA), a progressive and advanced form of age-related macular degeneration. Topics covered include the definition of GA, its prevalence and progression, key considerations for differential diagnosis, and the burden of the disease on patients. The session will also explore why GA is now a focus in eye care and review potential emerging treatment options, equipping practitioners with the knowledge needed to manage this growing challenge effectively.

Learning outcome(s):

Practitioners will gain an understanding into Geographic Atrophy and its prevalence, its progressive nature and the need for early diagnosis, as well as an introduction into potential treatment pathways, relative to their scope of practise (s.5)
