Peer review: Look after yourself to better eye health
This session highlights the importance of prioritising mental health and wellbeing as an eye care professional to improve decision making and enhance patient outcomes. Research has identified unique occupational pressures and delegates will discuss using case scenarios how to best support each other and individuals at risk of declining mental wellbeing. Delegates will explore strategies for maintaining a healthy work-life balance and fostering a positive workplace culture. Topics will include stress management techniques, dealing with challenging situations, building supportive work relationships, cultivating positive patient interactions and promoting overall wellbeing.
Learning outcome(s):
Practitioners will recognise how to show respect and fairness to those suffering from mental health issues and create a supportive work culture (s.13)
Practitioners will be able to identify risk factors for self-declining mental health and be able to implement appropriate safeguarding strategies to protect themselves and others (s.11)
Practitioners will recognise how their own personal mindset may impact patient safety and will be able to work with other colleagues to create a safe workplace environment (s.12)
