Specs, drugs, or contact lenses? Choosing the best intervention for controlling myopia in children
Recent surveys exploring attitudes towards myopia demonstrate the enthusiasm for optical interventions among optometrists and atropine among ophthalmologists. However, interventions to slow myopia progression are maximally effective when used as directed, although adherence is influenced by many variables including comfort, motivation and daily activities which are likely to change as a child grows up. This presentation sets out the key considerations in selecting the right intervention that addresses the needs of the child’s journey with myopia and how reacting to changing circumstances can help to ensure that the correct intervention is prescribed to help achieve maximum myopia control potential.
