Discussion workshop
Getting started with orthokeratology can be daunting, but it doesn’t need to be. This session is designed for practitioners who are just starting their ortho-k journey and will cover everything from what measurements you need for ortho-k and how to ensure these are the best they can be, to what to look for once the patient has started wearing the lenses. The discussion will involve the use of ortho-k in myopia management and how to manage compliance.
Learning outcomes:
- Practitioners will be able to explain and manage patient and parent expectations during the initial phase of ortho-k wear to support confidence and adherence
- Practitioners will be able to analyse corneal topography data to identify image defects, optimise image capture, and interpret expected topographical changes following initial ortho-k wear to assess treatment progress and compliance
- Practitioners will recognise common causes of corneal staining in ortho-k patients and recommend appropriate management strategies, relative to their scope of practice
