Discussion workshop: Beyond the pressure - recognising normal tension glaucoma and its mimics
02 Mar 2026
NewMedica: On-Stand
Discussion workshop
Studies from all over the world have indicated normal tension glaucoma (NTG) constitutes anywhere between 30% to 92% of primary open angle glaucoma cases. Without the flag of raised intraocular pressure, NTG can be easily misdiagnosed or overlooked and lead to avoidable sight loss. This interactive, case-based discussion workshop explores how to recognise NTG and distinguish it from common mimickers.
Participants will utilise key diagnostic tools such as fundus imaging, OCT images and visual field plots, to identify key differences that separate true glaucomatous change from benign anomalies. Emphasis will be placed on integrating history, structural and functional findings to make safe, evidence-based referral decisions and minimize avoidable referrals.
This session is ideal for optometrists delivering routine eye care, participating in enhanced glaucoma pathways, or looking to broaden their clinical scope
