Offering optical solutions in practice is only as a good as the advice that comes with it. In this discussion workshop, delegates will work through different discussion-based scenarios delivered in a fun and interactive way to consider the importance of communication and in particular the right advice to go alongside any recommendations and when problem solving. The session emphasises on an individual strategy, enabling attendees to strengthen their own methods of advice and problem solving when it comes different patient types in practice, from children to myopia control and presbyopes.

• Practitioners will recognise how to adapt communication to individual patient needs and assess patient understanding to support effective and shared decision-making
• Practitioners will describe current optical solutions available in practice and evaluate how appropriate examination, assessment, treatment, and referral decisions support safe and effective patient care
