Lecture: Eyes wide shut - the overlooked connection between vision and sleep
01 Mar 2026

Lecture
Sleep and vision are more closely connected than many clinicians realise. This lecture explores how visual impairment can disrupt circadian rhythms and sleep quality – and how sleep disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnoea, may increase the risk of ocular disease. We’ll examine the underlying mechanisms, highlight key clinical red flags, and explain why sleep should be on every practitioner’s radar.
