Glaucoma remains one of the leading causes of irreversible vision loss, yet its detection and management continue to evolve rapidly. This lecture will revisit the definition and pathophysiology of glaucoma, highlight current clinical challenges faced in primary and secondary care, and explore recent advances in diagnostic imaging, risk assessment, and monitoring. The session will also look ahead to future directions in glaucoma detection, including emerging technologies and evolving referral pathways, helping practitioners stay informed and confident in their clinical decision-making.
