Lecture: Remediation in fitness to practise proceedings – is it worth it?

This lecture will provide an overview of fitness to practise proceedings of the General Optical Council and consider the role that remediation can play in those investigations. The presentation will also consider whether there is merit to completing various types of remediation during such a process and the impact such actions can have.

Learning outcomes:

  • Practitioners will understand how to protect and safeguard patients, colleagues, and others from harm
  • Practitioners will recognise the importance of being honest and trustworthy, throughout their clinical practice and fitness to practice investigations
  • Practitioners will recognise how to maintain a safe environment for patients and colleagues, relative to their scope of practice
