ColorMatic® lenses use advanced photochromic technology to adapt seamlessly to changing light conditions. Embedded light-sensitive molecules react to UV exposure by darkening the lens and return to a clear state indoors. ColorMatic® X – Fast Forward to Clarity

ColorMatic® X is Rodenstock’s fastest photochromic lens to date. Its fade-back speed has been significantly improved, returning to clear up to 56% faster than previous generations.¹ This ensures a seamless transition when moving indoors, where even slight tinting can affect visual comfort. With up to 93% clarity indoors, wearers hardly notice they are wearing photochromic lenses at all.

Outdoors, ColorMatic® X darkens to 88%, providing category 3 sunglass-level protection while filtering increased amounts of blue-violet light ² and blocking 100% of UVA and UVB rays. Optimised for moderate climates around 23°C, it delivers reliable performance throughout the year. Available in all indices, ColorMatic® X is ideal for wearers seeking speed, comfort, and clarity in everyday environments.

ColorMatic® Dark – Maximum Protection in Bright Conditions

ColorMatic® Dark offers the deepest darkening in the Rodenstock photochromic range, reaching up to 90% tint outdoors. Designed for warmer climates up to 35°C, it maintains excellent performance even in high temperatures where many photochromic lenses lose efficiency.

A standout feature of ColorMatic® Dark is its ability to activate behind a car windscreen, providing consistent glare protection while driving, something standard photochromic lenses cannot achieve. Indoors, it remains comfortably clear, while outdoors it delivers powerful glare reduction, full UV protection, and enhanced blue-violet light filtering.³
