THINC will function as an advanced innovation center, specifically designed to foster collaboration among eye and healthcare professionals, academic institutions, industry and patient associations and technology partners across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). The center will focus on accelerating the development and adoption of oculomics by providing state-of-the-art facilities for clinical research, data analysis, and technology validation. It will offer educational programs, workshops, and hands-on demonstrations of emerging diagnostic imaging technologies, supporting knowledge exchange and professional growth.

By facilitating cross-disciplinary partnerships and supporting both start-ups and established organizations, THINC EMEA aims to drive the integration of ocular biomarkers into mainstream healthcare, ultimately reducing costs, increasing efficiency and improving patient outcomes, addressing the most pressing needs within the EMEA region.

Building on the successful establishment and resulting accelerated development of THINC in La Jolla, California, THINC EMEA embodies Topcon Healthcare’s commitment to fostering global collaboration and pioneering new technologies that place the eye at the center of healthcare. The center will catalyze partnerships among clinicians, researchers, technology leaders, industry groups, and government agencies, advancing best practices and innovative approaches that leverage the eye as a window to the body for broader systemic health impacts beyond visual health.

The centre is proud to incubate Cascader, its first start-up, born out of a collaboration between Moorfields Eye Hospital, University College London (UCL), and Topcon Healthcare. Cascader aims to redefine oculomics—the emerging field that uses eye data to inform systemic health—by developing novel analytics to unlock new insights for eye care professionals.

THINC EMEA is honoured to extend the efforts of Alliance of Healthcare from the Eye, into Europe, Middle East and Africa by establishing a regional working group. The Alliance of Healthcare from the Eye is a consortium of healthcare organizations consisting of health systems, physicians, payers, researchers, policy makers, regulators, data privacy experts and representatives from industry and government, working to expand access to affordable healthcare and improve clinical outcomes by enabling the ethical and impactful adoption of oculomics in real-world practice.
