TowardPi Yalkaid - 100kHz full-range SS-OCT/A
Operating at a 1060 nm wavelength, Yalkaid is especially effective for imaging patients with cataracts or vitreous opacities, with its invisible light minimising fixation distractions. It also features extensive 16 mm line scans and 12 mm 3D/OCTA scans, covering a broader area than traditional SD or SS-OCT systems.
Comparison with standard OCT:
- Scanning depth: Yalkaid's 6 mm depth surpasses the typical 2-3 mm depth of spectral-domain OCT, allowing better imaging of the choroid and sclera.
- Wavelength: the 1060 nm swept-source technology provides better penetration through cataracts and hemorrhages compared to the 840 nm wavelength used in many standard OCT systems.
- Versatility: unlike many systems that specialise in either anterior and posterior imaging, Yalkaid excels at both, potentially replacing two separate machines.
