CHEC is one of the largest providers of community-based ophthalmology services in the UK.

Founded in 2012, CHEC is one of the UK’s largest providers of NHS community-based ophthalmology services. With over 30 hospitals and 90 community sites nationwide, CHEC works in partnership with more than 1,450 optometry practices across the country to offer patients equitable access to eyecare services closer to home.

CHEC’s ophthalmology services span procedures including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and YAG laser, as well as specialist services including MIGS and vitreoretinal surgery. In 2023/24, CHEC treated more than 372,000 ophthalmology patients with a wait time of less than four weeks.
