CHEC is one of the UK’s leading providers of community healthcare.
For more than a decade, CHEC has been working in partnership with the NHS to increase patient choice and provide access to timely care and treatment locally. Through its 20+ community hospitals nationwide, CHEC makes specialist eyecare and gastroenterology services more readily accessible in local communities by offering patients greater flexibility and reduced waiting times.
CHEC is one of the largest providers of community-based ophthalmology services in the UK. With 20+ hospitals nationwide, CHEC works in partnership with around 2,500 optometrist practices to offer patients equitable access to eyecare services closer to home. Its services span all general ophthalmology including cataracts, glaucoma monitoring, minor operations, YAG laser and wet macular degeneration. In 2022/23, CHEC treated over 335,000 patients in less than four weeks.
Ophthalmology services are in high demand across the UK, but patients shouldn’t have to wait for excellent care. All ophthalmic conditions treated that would ordinarily go to secondary care, including but not limited to:
