AKILA - APOLLO - 1922
The AKILA Apollo frame exemplifies how sustainability and style can seamlessly merge. With its chunky frame and flat "zero base" lenses, Apollo fuses a classic silhouette with contemporary trends, offering a timeless yet forward-thinking aesthetic that continues to captivate wearers as an ongoing best seller.
Crafted from cellulose acetate, derived from renewable wood pulp and cotton fibres, instead of petroleum-based plastics, offering a sustainable alternative that is more flexible, lightweight and allows for richer and more unique colours. The lenses are made from patented Tritan Renew material, an innovative polymer made from molecularly recycled plastic that has been broken down into its chemical components, then restructured into durable materials without the additional use of fossil fuels. This process transforms single-use plastic waste into durable, high-performance lenses that can last a lifetime and are the first lenses of their kind to receive ISCC Certification.
Beyond the frames themselves, AKILA demonstrates a holistic commitment to sustainability. Packaging has been transitioned to 100% biodegradable materials, including cork leather soft cases and compostable cardboard boxes with recycled paper labels, eliminating unnecessary plastic waste.
As proud members of 1% for the Planet, AKILA pledges to donate 1% of sales to reputable environmental organizations.
The Apollo frame is a statement of how innovative design, sustainable materials, and responsible practices can come together to set a new standard in the industry.
