Dr Bartosz L. Sikorski is a medical retina specialist and VR surgeon with longstanding involvement in retinal research. He was a member of the Medical Physics Team at Nicolaus Copernicus University responsible for developing Spectral OCT technology and subsequently led its first commercialisation. In 2012, he presented the world’s first clinical results of OCT angiography at the AAO meeting, and in 2017 he introduced Split-Window OCT Biometry and OCT topography. In 2022, he co-authored a paper in iScience, in collaboration with physicists from the Polish Academy of Sciences, describing the breakthrough Spatio-temporal OCT technology.
Dr Sikorski has performed more than 10,000 intraocular surgeries involving both the anterior and posterior segments and gained additional VR surgical experience at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. His particular surgical interest lies in the management of complex ocular trauma. His academic contributions include numerous peer-reviewed publications, more than 60 international conference presentations, and the delivery of nearly 30 specialised courses on the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases worldwide.
