President, International Opticians Association (IOA)
Fiona Anderson studied full time and then entered her pre-registration year to qualify as a dispensing optician with an independent group. After 25 years with them – first as practice manager, then as accessories buyer, area manager, followed by group training manager and having studied for and gained a business degree along the way, she decided to leave and became a locum for two very happy years. Fiona is now a partner in an independent practice. She became more involved with ABDO about 18 years ago – first as an examiner, then in optical politics and was elected to the board of directors in 2010 having recently finished her term of office on the ABDO board after 10 years’ service. She is currently on the court at the WCSM and president of the IOA.
