Rupal Morjaria

Rupal specialises in medical retina diseases and cataract surgery. Her expertise includes the treatment of macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, central serous retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions and inherited retinal disease such as retinitis pigmentosa. She has extensive experience in all retinal injection therapies as well as retinal laser treatments, including non-scarring sub-threshold retinal laser. Rupal studied medicine and qualified from Birmingham University in 2005. She underwent her specialist ophthalmology training in the West Midlands Deanery, becoming a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Rupal then completed a 3-year specialist fellowship in medical retina and genetics. In 2018, she was awarded a PhD from University College London for her work on the impact of eye disease on sleep/wake patterns at Oxford University Hospitals. She worked as a consultant in medical retina and uUveitis at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham prior to becoming a medical retina consultant and the lead consultant in retinal genetics.
