Scott is a consultant optometrist and dispensing optician with Mackie Opticians, part of the Hakim group. He holds postgraduate qualifications in glaucoma, diabetes, low vision, independent prescribing, consent and capacity, and leaderships skills. He is a fellow of both the College of Optometrists and the Association of Optometrists Ireland, a recipient of the Max Wiseman award from the Association of British Dispensing Opticians and a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers. He is also a past council member for the General Optical Council and runs the Scottish Optical Conference.
