Discussion workshop: The art of conscious decision making for contact lens selection
This workshop aims to shift the focus of contact lens selection from eye care professional lens preferences to a patient-centric approach based on individual needs. By recognising the diverse factors and ever-advancing technology that influence contact lens suitability, eye care professionals can enhance patient satisfaction, visual outcomes and overall eye health, leading to a lifetime of wear in lenses.
Learning outcomes:
An understanding of the advancements in technology, including multifocal toric and monovision contact lenses, and the ability to explain the advantages and disadvantages of these methods to the patient
An understanding of how lifestyle needs contribute to lens selection as well ocular health to achieve long term successful contact lens wear
An understanding of the importance of considering existing and new lifestyle needs in contact lens wearers and providing alternative options in the future, as technology advances, in line with patient requirements.
