Discussion workshop: Retention - disaster to master!
Join us as we look at reasons as to why patients may drop out of contact lens wear at the beginning of their journey. Delegates will need to consider all options to ensure maximum retention of contact lens patients. The session will cover cases where delegates will identify various possible reasons that may lead to the early discontinuation of contact lens wear and how to address them before they become a concern.
Learning outcomes:
An understanding of the importance of appropriate questioning and communication to ensure maximum success of contact lens wear
An understanding of the importance of the teach appointment, the language that should be used and potential follow up
An understanding of the importance of appropriate prescription choice and communicating this with patients early to manage expectations
The ability to identify some of the inherent patient factors, modifiable patient factors and environmental factors that can affect discontinuation of contact lens wear and what can be done to help avoid or address those situations before the patient ceases lens wear.
