Discussion workshop: The spice of life - a variety of cases from general ophthalmology
This discussion workshop considers three cases from a general ophthalmology clinic which draw on sub-specialty knowledge to manage: an unusual presentation of a choroidal neovascular membrane, treatment options available for a patient with narrow anterior chamber angles and how thorough patient history and careful slit lamp examination can help in decision making for an eyelid lesion. All three cases allow optometrists to appreciate the potential secondary care treatment options in accordance with current guidelines.
Learning outcomes:
To critically discuss patient management options and to better understand current clinical guidance with respect to conditions under consideration.
To demonstrate effective patient communication through tailored history and symptoms in light of suspicious findings and explanations of management options
To identify key features for three potentially sight threatening conditions, recognising important factors which place patients at increased risk.
