Discussion workshop: Understanding the management of complications after cataract surgery
This session will help optometrists identify, diagnose and manage complications following cataract surgery. A short plenary part starts the session to review intra-operative and post-operative complications. Three scenarios follow, to be discussed in small groups, based on the most common post-operative complications:
- Corneal oedema
- Post-operative uveitis
- Cystoid macular oedema.
The medical management is also covered from the perspective of specialty optometrists.
Learning outcomes:
Practitioners will be able to explain to patients about the treatment of common post-operative cataract complications relative to their scope of practice
Practitioners will be able to identify clinical signs and symptoms of common post-operative cataract complications and recognise the treatment options relative to their scope of practice.
