Myopia management: Beyond 20/20

Until recently, eye care practitioners have managed myopia primarily by correcting the optical deficit and providing clear vision with single vision spectacles, contact lenses or refractive surgery. The introduction of interventions which aim to modify eye growth and control the progression of myopia provide the potential for a more ‘therapeutic’ approach to myopia management. This lecture will describe and compare methods of myopia management, including pre-myopia behavioural interventions, and examine the evidence for their efficacy, as well as the areas of uncertainty that remain unresolved.
