Training 2000 and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) to attend 100% Optical - the UK’s Largest Optical Event for a Second Year

Training 2000 and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) are exhibitors at the 10th edition of 100% Optical, which is taking place on 24 - 26 February at London’s ExCeL.

Following the transition of Training 2000’s Level 2 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship to a Level 3 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship, we are joining over 200 exhibitors and thousands of UK and international visitors at the UK’s largest optical event.

The annual show provides a platform for professionals to source the latest eyewear, contact lenses, technology and solutions for their businesses, gain invaluable CPD and network with fellow industry peers.

Visitors to Training 2000’s stand can expect to gain knowledge of the benefits of optical Apprenticeships, how Training 2000 can assist with recruitment and upskilling, and the opportunity to participate in fun activities on the stall.

For existing members of staff looking to develop their careers, the Level 3 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship will equip them with a deeper knowledge of the industry and provide them with the skills and behaviours to adopt a more varied role and alleviate the pressure from the Dispensing Optician.

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) will be joining Training 2000 at 100% Optical. UCLan offers a range of courses for eyecare and hearing aid professionals. Taught via blended learning they provide the opportunity for staff to work in their current role whilst studying for the qualifications required to advance their career. Courses include BSc (Hons) Ophthalmic Dispensing, Master of Optometry (MOptom) and FdSc Hearing Aid Audiology. The blended learning format means that knowledge is delivered online and there will be several week-long residential on-campus “blocks” to embed learning into clinical and practical skills throughout each year.

Students will utilise new, purpose-built facilities including specialist dispensing and refraction labs and an on-campus Eye Health Clinic, a student led equivalent to a high street optical practice which provides an excellent learning environment to gain specialist real world skills. UCLan also is the first university in the North West to provide students with access to the Eyesi® Direct Ophthalmoscope virtual reality simulator.
