Fernando Albertorio
Dr Fernando Albertorio is a serial entrepreneur, scientist and public speaker who has created award-winning assistive technology for the visually impaired. Born with albinism and legally blind, Fernando grew up on the tropical island of Puerto Rico. His Father, a US Airforce veteran, inspired his love for science and technology. Fernando realised that his vision impairment allowed him to become a unique problem-solver. He pursued a career in science by first earning his doctorate in chemistry and then became an independent researcher in physics at Harvard, where he received the prestigious NIH Ruth Kirstein National Independent Research Award. Fernando then realised his opportunity to transition into entrepreneurship and founded his first technology company in 2010. Since then, he has founded three companies and has driven more than ten products to market and has been featured on CNN, MIT Review, Forbes as well as on TV shows like Meet the Drapers.
