100% Optical are working alongside RCA for the 9th time delivering the RCA Competition.
Last year's brief was about reflecting on the past to help us look at each other now and help us see into the future, a more sustainable and a less throw away one. They used acetate materials from an amazing factory in London, Algha on Fish Island in Bow.
The Eyewear Designs needed to feel good and make us feel good, sexy, attractive and define who we really are. They concentrated on fit, facial types, head measurements and relevant styles based on head size, prescription and context for the wearer and their lifestyle and habits.
All designs had to be made using the recycled acetate.
This year's theme is 'Sunglasses That Do Not Cost The Earth'. Students will need to reflect on materials used in production and how they can make it sustainable without hurting the planet or hurting peoples pockets during a living crisis.
